What to do if azalea drops leaves in winter

What to do if azalea drops leaves in winter

1. Environmentally caused

Generally, leaf falling may be due to environmental reasons. The azaleas sold in the market are basically maintained in greenhouses. Generally, you need to familiarize yourself with the environment at home after buying them. They often fall leaves and die. If we want to solve the problem at this time, we should ensure the air humidity, provide appropriate shade, keep the soil in the pot slightly moist, and give it appropriate ventilation, but we cannot let the cold wind blow directly on it. Don't rush to change the soil or apply fertilizer. It also needs sufficient light in winter. When kept indoors, try to place it under a south window, and the ambient temperature should not be lower than 5 degrees. Also, don't change its location at will to prevent its temperature from changing. But don't put it in a place with turbid air.

2. Improper fertilization

If you apply fertilizer improperly, it will easily cause problems with the leaves. You should know that the physiological activities of plants will weaken in winter. If the concentration of fertilizer is too high, it will be easier for its leaves to fall off. So we need to apply a little thin liquid fertilizer at this time.

3. Improper watering

Another reason for its leaf shedding may be poor watering. The plant's root system is relatively thin and not very drought-resistant. Water evaporates slowly in winter. Too much or too little watering is not good, as this will easily cause its leaves to fall off.

4. Caused by soil

Rhododendron prefers acidic flower environments, but if you water it frequently the soil will become alkaline, in which case it will not be able to survive and will easily lose its leaves. The soil for azalea must be acidic soil with good ventilation. In normal times, you should also add some fertilizer to the azalea to keep the soil normal.

5. Seasonal change

Another possibility is that due to the sudden drop in temperature, the plant reduces the water in its body in order to protect itself, resulting in a physiological reaction. This situation will recover on its own after a period of time!
