How to propagate spring grass

How to propagate spring grass

Reproduction method

Propagation by division

Gently break off the small bulbs that sprout around the large bulbs of spring grass, and pay attention to selecting small bulbs with good appearance and good growth conditions for reproduction.

Then plant it shallowly in the soil, with the bulb exposed about 1/3 above the soil surface. Spring grass can survive regardless of whether it has roots or not.

When we propagate spring grass by division, we can combine it with repotting in autumn.

Seed propagation

This method is suitable for large-scale propagation. If you want to propagate spring grass as a gift to your relatives and friends, then sowing propagation is a good choice.

When autumn comes, bury the seeds of spring grass gently in the soil and cover them with glass to keep the soil and air moist, thereby achieving a higher germination rate.

In order to avoid washing seeds or seedlings out of the soil when watering after sowing and in the seedling stage, the "seepage irrigation" method should be used for watering. Place the flower pot in a basin of water to allow water to slowly soak into the soil from the drainage holes at the bottom of the flower pot.

Precautions

illumination

Spring grass likes light and should be given sufficient light during the growing period. The leaves of plants grown in sunny places are short and thick, spiraling and twisted, and are highly ornamental.

Repotting

Spring grass is generally repotted once a year at the end of August. The potting soil is required to be fertile and loose, rich in humus, and have good drainage and air permeability.
