Why did the camellia fall off just after it bloomed?

Why did the camellia fall off just after it bloomed?

1. Too many flower buds left

Reason: Too many flower buds lead to insufficient nutrients, which in turn causes the flowering period to be short after flowering and the flowers to fall off easily.

Solution: Pick the flower buds appropriately after they appear. For larger plants, you can pick fewer buds, but for small plants that are not growing well, you need to pick more buds. Generally, one flower bud is retained on each branch, and all the others are removed. In addition, if the branches are weak, the flower buds on them should also be picked off to avoid wasting nutrients.

2. Soil Alkalinization

Reason: Camellia grows best in acidic soil. Alkaline soil will lead to poor development and cause the flowers to fall off after flowering.

Solution: To improve the pH of the soil, you can use ferrous sulfate mixed with water for watering. Generally, 0.5% ferrous sulfate can be added when watering. Do not water too much at a single time, but water frequently to keep the soil moist.

3. Insufficient watering

Reason: Insufficient watering during the flowering period. The plant does not have enough water, so the flowers are naturally easy to fall off.

Solution: If the flower is thin and the soil is dry, it is probably due to insufficient watering. In this case, water the plant thoroughly to ensure that the soil in the pot is moist. In addition, check the soil on time every day and water it immediately if it is found to be dry.

4. Excessive nitrogen fertilizer

Reason: Nitrogen fertilizer will cause the plant to grow too tall and inhibit flowering. Too much nitrogen fertilizer during the flowering period will cause the flowers to fall off.

Solution: Take the plant out of the pot in time and clean the soil in the pot. It is best to replace the soil in the pot.
