Precautions for transplanting gardenia

Precautions for transplanting gardenia

1. Transplanting time

The recommended time for transplanting gardenias is generally spring and autumn, preferably February and October. Do not transplant in summer or rainy season, and do not transplant during the flowering period, as this will greatly affect the survival rate and cause it to fail to survive the seedling acclimatization period.

2. Water Control

Water control is required before transplanting. Make sure the soil in the pot is relatively dry, so that the soil and the flowerpot can be better separated. If there is too much soil in the pot, you can remove some of it before transplanting.

3. Pruning branches and leaves

The branches and leaves need to be pruned before transplanting. Cut off horizontal branches, weak branches and overlapping branches, and also cut off larger leaves. This will help the plant retain water.

4. Root treatment

After taking the plant out of the pot, treat the roots. The main thing is to cut off old and bad roots to avoid infection by bacteria after repotting.

5. Fill the pot with soil

You need to put a few tiles at the bottom of the pot before potting. Then fill it with 2-3 cm of nutrient soil, place the plant on it and start filling the soil. The soil should not be filled completely to make watering easier.

6. Bag Moisturizing

If the plant grows poorly and the air humidity is low, you can put a plastic bag on it after repotting. Spray water inside the bag first to maintain air humidity. Put the bag on halfway, then take it off every 5 hours to let it air out.
