How to Plant Chinese Herb Polygonatum

How to Plant Chinese Herb Polygonatum

1. Choose the soil

The prerequisite for planting is to ensure good loam conditions. It is best to use sandy soil, which has a loose texture and can retain water. Do not use too compacted soil, which will affect the infiltration and permeability of water, which is not conducive to later growth.

2. Planting process

1. Seeds: If you choose seeds for planting, you need to collect the seeds after they mature in August, then wrap them in wet sand and bury them in a 30cm pit. Wait until around March of the second year to dig them out, select the seeds and evenly sow them in the soil, cover them with 1.5 cm of soil, and water them with enough water to promote plant growth. They can be transplanted after one year.

2. Rhizome: In late autumn or early spring around March, dig out the rhizomes at the bottom, cut the tenderer parts into several sections, each section has about 3-4 sections, set them aside and wait for the wounds to dry, then plant them in loam, paying attention to watering.

3. Manage

1. Weeding: At the beginning of planting, pay attention to weeding to prevent it from competing with Polygonatum for nutrients.

2. Fertilization: In order to make it grow better, it needs to apply enough nutrients, but not too much to cause burden.

3. Water: Apply water in time to ensure the growth needs. If drought occurs, the watering frequency can be increased.
