Loach breeding methods and technologies

Loach breeding methods and technologies

Loach is not only a delicious food, but also has medicinal value. It is known as the "ginseng in water". Loach is a small freshwater fish that is widely distributed in China, and is especially common in the south. It mainly inhabits lakes and ponds and is favored by people for its high nutritional value. Let’s learn about loach breeding methods and techniques.

1. Stocking of seedlings

The loach seedlings with uniform specifications, healthy body surface, and no diseases or deformities are released per acre, with the quantity being 280 to 300 kilograms, or about 300 per kilogram. Before stocking, use 3% to 4% salt water at a water temperature of 10 to 15°C for 15 to 25 minutes for soaking and disinfection.

2. Water quality management

Keep the pool water yellow-green, control the transparency at 20-25 cm, and maintain the pH at neutral or slightly acidic. Ensure that the dissolved oxygen content is above 2 mg/L, and regularly use snails and microbial preparations to improve the water environment.

3. Feeding :

Choose a compound feed with a protein content of about 30% and a particle size not exceeding 2.3 mm. When the water temperature is 15℃, the feeding amount is 2% of the total weight of the loach; when the water temperature is between 20 and 28℃, the feeding amount increases to 3% to 4%. Feed three times a day and follow the "four fixed" principles (fixed time, fixed point, fixed quantity, fixed quality).

4. Daily management:

Inspect the pond three times a day (morning, noon and evening) to monitor changes in water quality and the feeding and activity of loaches. Strengthen anti-escape measures to ensure the integrity of breeding facilities.

5. Disease prevention

Add 2 grams of antibiotics, 5 grams of Sanhuang powder and 2 grams of vitamin C per kilogram of feed, mix well and feed once a month for 5 consecutive days. Regularly use microbial preparations to improve water quality and prevent loach bubble disease. Check the gas saturation in the pond to ensure adequate feed and reduce the possibility of loaches swallowing bubbles. If loaches have bubble disease, use 5 mg/L salt water to spray the entire pond, replace some of the old water, and add new water. For trichodinasis and chlamydia spp., use 0.7 grams of copper sulfate and ferrous sulfate mixture (5:2) per cubic meter of water, dissolve it in water and then spray it throughout the pond for prevention and control.

The above is an introduction to the breeding methods and key points of loach. Many rural friends now use the pond model to breed loach. Those who have the conditions can try it.
