How to Plant Dahlias in Spring

How to Plant Dahlias in Spring

1. Planting method

1. First, you need to prepare a relatively healthy bulb. It is better to choose one that is larger and heavier.

2. The time for planting should be chosen in early spring, specifically around March 15th.

3. It is advisable to keep its growth temperature around 15 degrees, which can promote the good growth of the bulbs.

4. You need to prepare a large rectangular pot and put some soil in it. It is better if the soil is fluffy and soft. It is advisable to use the soil we commonly see together with some grass ash and nutritious leaf mold. However, it is necessary to carry out some disinfection before use.

5. Plant the seeds directly into the soil, then lightly sprinkle a layer of soil to cover them. Make sure the cultivating soil is three times the size of the seeds. Then sprinkle water on it. You can also cover it with a piece of plastic wrap, but you need to pierce it for ventilation.

6. After the seeds pop out and grow some leaves, you can move them to a new pot.

2. Planting method of reproduction

1. If you have old plants at home, you can directly propagate and plant them. You can cut them off together with the roots and branches, and then plant them directly into the soil. However, it is best if the tuber has buds on it, otherwise it will not be easy to germinate.

2. Choose a time in summer around July, cut off an 18 cm long branch from the plant, leaving only 3 leaves on it, and insert it into the soil and wait for it to take root.
