How to grow asparagus fern

How to grow asparagus fern

1. Potting soil

When choosing pots and soil for growing asparagus fern, you should try to use ceramic pots or clay pots. The soil should also be loose and the drainage performance should not be too poor. The diameter of the flowerpot cannot be too small, otherwise it will hinder the normal growth of the plant. The diameter of the pot should be about 14-15cm.

2. Sunlight

It is a relatively shade-loving plant. During maintenance, it cannot be allowed to grow under too strong sunlight, and appropriate diffuse light should be provided for the plant. It can be exposed to sufficient light in spring and autumn, but it needs to be moved to a cool place for maintenance in summer, and placed in a sunny place for the winter.

3. Fertilization

The healthy growth of the plant requires nutrients to maintain, and it does not have too strict requirements on fertilizer. Just replenish it with fertilizer once a month. During the peak season when the growth condition is better, water can be given once every half a month. However, please note that if the fertilizer concentration is too high, do not use it as the leaves will easily turn yellow.

4. Repotting

Under normal circumstances, the flowerpot should be replaced after 1-2 years of cultivation. The original flowerpot is relatively small, which may affect the expansion of its root system. Repotting is to give the plant a larger growth space. When repotting, the roots should be properly pruned, that is, the smaller and drier roots should be cut off.
