Patchouli cultivation methods and precautions

Patchouli cultivation methods and precautions

1. Matrix

Patchouli has very low requirements for the substrate for its growth. If you want the plant to grow better, you should try to choose looser sandy soil. In addition, the plant is very afraid of waterlogging when growing, so the soil drainage must be good.

2. Hydration

The plants need water support during their growth period, and the maintenance environment must have a sufficiently high humidity, especially in the dry and hot season, more watering is needed. It is best to wait until the soil is dry before watering it. You can also water it more often during the growing season, but reduce the amount of water in severe winter.

3. Light and temperature

During the maintenance period, it is best to maintain the temperature between 12-25℃. It is very afraid of cold, so it should be moved indoors in time in winter, and the room temperature should be kept above 5℃. In addition, the plants should be allowed to receive better light and see the sun more often.

4. Prevention and control of diseases and pests

If the maintenance is unreasonable due to some reasons during the breeding period, it is possible to be attacked by diseases and insects, the most common of which is brown spot disease. Once discovered, it must be dealt with as soon as possible. The diseased leaves should be cut off immediately and then sprayed with appropriate medicines.

5. Notes

After a rainy day, you need to pour out the water in the flowerpot as soon as possible. Do not allow water to accumulate in the soil of the pot, otherwise it will cause the roots of the plant to rot. It is best to move the flowerpot to a sheltered place before it rains to avoid being exposed to the rain.
