How often does a cactus bloom?

1. How many years does it take to bloom?

It takes a relatively long time to wait for a cactus to bloom. Many people know that it can bloom, but they rarely see it blooming when they grow it at home. In fact, different cactus varieties have different flowering times. Generally speaking, as long as flower lovers cultivate it carefully, there is a great chance of it blooming within 3 to 5 years. There are also some varieties that will not bloom until more than 20 years, and golden barrel cactus is one of them.

2. Methods to promote flowering

1. Environmental temperature: It grows in the high temperature and drought environment of desert areas. It is important to know that it is difficult for it to bloom when the temperature is below 20℃. Therefore, when we usually maintain it, we try to keep the ambient temperature as high as possible, which can effectively increase the chance of flowering.

2. Appropriate amount of water: Water it when the soil in the pot is dry, but don’t water it too much. Make sure its water supply is not interrupted. It is easier to bloom with sufficient water. Be careful not to water it too much to cause water accumulation.

3. Regular fertilization: Although it is a plant that tolerates barrenness, if nutrition is not met, it can only maintain its own growth, let alone flowering, so applying fertilizer to it on time is also before flowering. You can apply a thin layer of cake fertilizer or water fertilizer once every 15 days. It should be noted that a little less is fine, but not too much.
