1. Difference of blades

The leaves of Dianthus barbatus are lanceolate, about 4-8 cm long, about 1 cm wide, with an acute apex, gradually narrowing at the base, connate into a sheath, and entire margins.

The leaves of carnation are linear-lanceolate, narrower than the former, about 3-5 cm long, 2-4 mm wide, gradually pointed at the apex, slightly narrowed at the base, entire or with fine teeth.

2. The difference between flowers

The flowers of Dianthus bearded are numerous and are organized into capitate inflorescences with several leaf-like bracts. The bracts are ovate, the petals have long claws, and the petals are ovate, usually reddish purple with white markings.

Dianthus flowers are solitary at the top of branches or several flowers are gathered into cymes, with 4 bracts, which are ovate. Its petals are obovate triangular and come in a variety of colors, including purple, bright red, pink or white.
