The difference between coral tree and bachelor tree

1. Differences in leaves

The leaves of the coral tree are elliptical to rectangular, sometimes nearly circular, about 7 to 20 cm long, dark green and very shiny, with no small hairs on both sides, 5 to 6 pairs of lateral veins, and petioles about 1 to 3 cm long, with no hairs on them.

The leaves of the Gleditsia gracile are linear or indistinctly scaly, about 1 cm long and 0.2 cm wide. They are very small and often fall off prematurely, leaving them leafless.

2. Differences in Fruits

The fruit of the coral tree is red when it is first born, and then turns black. It is about 8 mm long and 5 to 6 mm in diameter. The fruit ripens from July to September.

The fruit of the bachelor tree is dark black in color, about 0.5 cm long, and ripens from July to November.
