The meaning and legend of magnolia

legend

The legend of magnolia has the colors of traditional folk mythology. The story is about three sisters who lived in a deep mountain a long time ago. The eldest sister was called Hong Yulan, the second sister was called Bai Yulan, and the third sister was called Huang Yulan.

One day they went down the mountain for fun but found the village cold and silent. After asking the villagers, they learned that Qin Shihuang had driven away mountains and reclaimed sea, killing the Lobster Princess. The Dragon King locked the salt warehouse and prevented the people of Zhangjiajie from eating salt, which led to a plague and killed many people.

The three sisters felt very sorry for them and decided to help them get salt. After being rejected many times by the Dragon King, the three sisters charmed General Crab with the floral fragrance they brewed, and took the opportunity to drill a hole in the salt warehouse and soak all the salt in the sea water. The people in the village were saved, but the three sisters were turned into flower trees by the Dragon King.

Later, people called the tree "magnolia" in their memory, and the fragrance of the flower they brewed became their own fragrance. The legend is simple yet beautiful, reflecting people's pursuit of beautiful things and their yearning for perfection.
