Maintenance methods of potted jasmine

Soil selection

To grow jasmine, you need loose, fertile, well-drained, slightly acidic soil. It is usually made by mixing garden soil, river sand and decomposed fertilizer soil. In order to keep the soil slightly acidic, ferrous sulfate can be applied every 10 days or so.

2-3 year old jasmine needs to be repotted. The roots of jasmine have been in the soil for too long, becoming entangled and affecting the normal nutrient needs of the jasmine. If the pot is not changed properly, the jasmine will stop growing. It is best to change the pot before the jasmine is taken out of the room. When repotting jasmine, do not trim the roots. Replace the potting soil with new one and then water it.

How to water

Jasmine likes a humid growing environment, but is afraid of waterlogging. It needs more watering during the hot summer, but too much watering will cause the plant to stop growing and waterlogging in the pot soil.

In spring, watering should be done every 2-3 days, around noon, watering when the soil is dry, and watering again when it is dry, and watering thoroughly.

During the first flowering period, water a little more. As summer gets hotter, jasmine is also in its peak growth period. The light is stronger at this time, so you should water it more often, once in the morning and once in the evening.

The last flowering period in autumn is around September and October. At this time, reduce watering to about once every two days. Strictly control the amount of water in winter, otherwise the potting soil will become moist and the temperature will drop, which will be seriously detrimental to the growth of jasmine.

How to fertilize

Jasmine likes fertilizer, especially during its flowering period, but the amount of fertilizer should not be too much. The principle of applying fertilizer thinly and frequently should be followed. Fertilization should be mainly light fertilizer, and fertilizer should be applied once a month. Too much fertilizer will cause the leaves to wither and yellow.
