Rubber tree cultivation methods and precautions

Rubber tree cultivation methods and precautions

1. Soil

The rubber tree is not too strict about the soil requirements. It only needs to be loose, fertile and have a certain ability to retain water and fertilizer. You can use leaf mold and garden soil in a ratio of 1:2 and mix them evenly. If conditions permit, you can add a little sand to allow water to flow through. This can meet the growth needs of the rubber tree.

2. Water

There must be sufficient water. Except for the dormant period, there must be sufficient water at other times, but water cannot accumulate, which will cause root rot in the plant.

3. Fertilization

Rubber trees have high requirements for fertilizer. During maintenance, applying thin liquid fertilizer once every 7 to 10 days can meet its growth needs.

4. Lighting

The rubber tree needs full light during its growth period and can only grow better under sunlight. For example, the leaves will grow in normal size, thickness and shape, the internodes will be dense, and the terminal buds will be bright red. A dark environment will make the leaves smaller, the internodes longer, the branches thin and weak, the terminal buds small, and the green color will change from red to green, losing its ornamental characteristics.

5. Prevention and control of pests and diseases

Rubber trees have relatively few diseases and pests, but they may occasionally be harmed by scale insects. Once discovered, just remove them in time.

6. Notes

Rubber trees like high temperatures and are afraid of cold, so they need proper protection when temperatures are below 10 degrees Celsius, and will be harmed by frost when temperatures are below 5 degrees Celsius. It needs full light cultivation and must be exposed to sunlight to make the plant shape normal and beautiful. Rubber trees are plants that particularly like water and fertilizer. Only sufficient water and fertilizer can meet their normal growth needs.
