Cultivation methods and precautions of Dieffenbachia

Cultivation methods and precautions of Dieffenbachia

1. Lighting

Dieffenbachia is an evergreen herb of the Liliaceae family. When caring for it indoors, be sure to create a semi-shaded environment for it.

2. Soil

The soil that Dieffenbachia needs is sandy loam with good water permeability and rich in humus.

3. Temperature

The suitable temperature for the growth of evergreen is between 15 and 25 degrees. It can grow normally in an environment above 6 degrees. It can grow slowly if the low temperature overwintering is kept at around 6 degrees.

4. Fertilization

During the maintenance period, the evergreen needs good ventilation conditions. During the growth period, it can be topdressed with thin liquid fertilizer once a month, or slow-release full-speed fertilizer.

5. Pollination

Pollination and fruiting of the evergreen plant require the help of slugs or snails, or artificial pollination, and appropriate maintenance space should be retained.

6. Repotting

During the maintenance period, you should repot it about once every one to two years. The best time is in early spring or early autumn, usually around April or October. The soil used should be loose and fertile with strong water permeability. Because it has a fleshy root system, place it in a cool and ventilated place after repotting. After watering it sufficiently, gradually expose it to light for three or four days and then switch to normal maintenance.

VII. Precautions

1. Evergreen likes higher air humidity. If the humidity is insufficient, the tip of the stem will burn. You can increase the humidity by spraying.

2. The soil in the pot must not be waterlogged nor completely dry, otherwise the leaves will become scorched or even die.

3. During the maintenance process, the plant should not be exposed to direct sunlight. Strong direct sunlight will cause the leaves to turn yellow.
