The difference between chrysanthemum and sunflower

1. Difference of blades

The leaves of the pine needle chrysanthemum are opposite, triangular and fleshy. It is about 3-6 cm long and 3-4 mm wide, with a convex tip and a base that embraces the stem. It is pink-green in color with many small dots.

The leaves of sunflower are alternate, nearly cylindrical and linear or subulate and narrowly lanceolate. They are smaller than the former, about 1-2 cm long, 1-4 mm wide, and green in color.

2. The difference between flowers

The flowers of the chrysanthemum are solitary at the ends of branches, with a diameter of about 4-7.5 cm. The bracts are leaf-shaped and opposite, the pedicels are about 8-15 cm long, the calyx has 5 deep lobes of different sizes, and there are many petals, which are purple-red to white. Flowering period is spring or summer and autumn.

The sunflower is smaller than the former, with a diameter of about 2 cm, 6-9 bracts arranged in whorls, 5 petals, reddish purple in color, and broadly obovate. The flowering period is from May to August.
