The difference between purple horn leaf and auricularia

1. Differences in the stems

Purple hornwort, also known as basella alba, is a twining herb with fleshy stems that are green or slightly purple-red.

The stem of the wood vegetable is fleshy and woody at the bottom, with a diameter of 1.5 to 2 cm. The upper part is upright and the lower part is flat on the ground.

2. The difference of leaves

The leaves of purple caraway are ovate or nearly round, 3-9 cm long and 2-8 cm wide, with petioles about 1 to 3 cm long and grooves on the top of the leaves.

The leaves of wood ear vegetable are large, 10 to 30 cm long, 4 to 11 cm wide, and obovate or oblong in shape.

3. Differences in Fruits

The fruit of purple caraway is spherical in shape, 5 to 6 mm in diameter, red to dark red or black in color, and blooms from May to September.

The fruit of Auricularia auricula is cylindrical in shape, 4 to 4.5 mm long, and the flowering and fruiting period is relatively late, from September to October.
