Jasmine Care Tips and Propagation Methods

Jasmine Care Tips and Propagation Methods

1. Maintenance skills

1. Light: It can only grow better if there is sufficient sunlight. The growing environment cannot be without sunlight. Too much shade will cause the branches and leaves to grow too long and the plant will not bloom. However, when the sun shines in summer, be sure to provide it with shade.

2. Water: Try to water 2-3 times a week in spring and autumn, and water every day in summer. It is best to water in the morning or evening to keep the soil moist. There should be no excess water in the potting soil. In addition, water must be poured thoroughly, otherwise the roots will not be able to absorb water.

3. Fertilization: During its vigorous growth season, apply nitrogen fertilizer once every half a month. Before flowering, apply less nitrogen fertilizer and more phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. When flowering, it needs a lot of nutrients, so try to apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizers.

4. Pruning: During the growth period of jasmine, diseased and dead branches and leaves need to be pruned away, and branches that are too long should also be shortened appropriately. After the flowering period, the remaining flowers should be removed in time, otherwise more nutrients will be consumed.

2. Breeding Methods

1. Layering propagation: Cut off the epidermis 15 cm from the top of the branches with good growth, expose the stem and bury the wound in the soil. After fixing it, water it appropriately, and it will take root in about a month.

2. Cutting propagation: Cut branches with a length of 10 cm, remove the leaves at the base, apply some rooting powder on the wound, insert it into the substrate and water it thoroughly. If the temperature is low, you can use plastic film to keep warm, and it will take about 40 days to take root.
