Chrysanthemum planting method and time

Chrysanthemum planting method and time

Chrysanthemum , as one of the top ten traditional famous flowers in China, has rich symbolic meanings and unique characteristics. Chrysanthemum blooms in autumn and can bloom even in cold environments, symbolizing perseverance and tenacious vitality. Let’s learn about the methods and time of planting chrysanthemums .

1. Chrysanthemum planting time

Spring sowing: generally from February to April, when the climate is warm and suitable for chrysanthemum growth .

Autumn sowing: You can also choose to sow in autumn, especially in September, so that the chrysanthemums can have enough time to grow before winter.

2. Planting method

Soil selection: Chrysanthemums prefer well-drained, humus-rich soil. You can choose special flower soil, or make your own mixed soil (garden soil, leaf mold, river sand, etc.).

Seed treatment: If it is seed sowing, you can soak the seeds in warm water for 24 hours and then sow them.

Sowing: Sprinkle the seeds evenly on the soil surface, lightly cover with a thin layer of soil, and keep the soil moist.

Light and temperature: Chrysanthemums like plenty of sunlight, but avoid strong direct sunlight during the seedling period. The most suitable temperature is kept between 15-25℃.

Water management: Keep the soil slightly moist but not waterlogged. Pay special attention during the seedling stage to avoid excessive moisture that may cause root rot.

Fertilization: During the growth period of chrysanthemum, diluted liquid fertilizer can be applied regularly to promote growth.

Pruning and shaping: Prune the yellow leaves and overly dense branches in a timely manner to help the plants ventilate and let in light, promoting healthy growth.

Pest and disease prevention: Pay attention to the plants and take timely preventive measures against possible pests and diseases.

3. Maintenance tips

During the growth process of chrysanthemums, timely repotting can help the root system develop and promote stronger plants.

After the flower buds are formed, you can reduce watering appropriately to prevent the flower buds from falling off due to excessive water.

The above is the planting method and time of chrysanthemums. I hope it will be helpful to you. If you have any other questions, you are welcome to ask at any time.
