What are the white spots on persimmons and how to treat them

1. What are white spots?

Persimmons usually have a lot of white spots when they grow to maturity. This is actually because the persimmon tree has been attacked by the persimmon scale insect. This pest can easily occur on persimmon trees and may occur several times a year. It is well hidden and not easily discovered. It usually attacks the fruits and leaves of persimmon trees. If there is no prevention and control in the early stage, by around August or September, they will become insects with white wax shells, which will be more difficult to eliminate.

2. Treatment Methods

1. Use the winter pruning method to cut off the branches damaged by pests and diseases, as well as the old bark, and finally burn the larvae that hibernate. In addition, there may be larvae on the remaining dried persimmon stalks, which should also be cut off in time.

2. Before germination, use Baume 5-degree lime sulfur mixture to spray the tree trunk to kill its larvae.

3. Before the larvae become wax shells, use cypermethrin or dichlorvos to spray. If it has become a white wax insect, it should be sprayed with wax scale.

4. If the insects crawl out of their shells, this is the most serious period of insect infestation. The third generation is also the most difficult to treat. It is best to spray with DDT or phoxim.
