Cultivation methods and precautions of plum blossoms

Cultivation methods and precautions of plum blossoms

1. Soil

Plum blossoms have a strong adaptability to soil and can tolerate poor soil conditions. They can grow well as long as the soil has good drainage. Generally, we can mix leaf mold, compost soil and sandy soil in a ratio of 2:2:1 for the cultivation of plum blossoms.

2. Watering

When watering plum blossoms, water the soil when it is dry. You don’t need to water it if the soil is not dry. Once the soil is dry, water it thoroughly. In addition, the stagnant water in the pot should be drained when it rains a lot, otherwise the roots will easily rot.

3. Lighting

Plum blossoms are suitable for growing in places with sufficient light. If they grow in places with insufficient light for a long time, they will become thin and lifeless, and will not bloom many flowers.

4. Temperature

Plum blossoms like warmth and are very cold-resistant. They can generally withstand temperatures as low as -10℃, and some cold-resistant varieties can even withstand temperatures as low as -25℃. They are also very heat-resistant and can grow at 40℃. However, it grows best at 16-23℃.

5. Notes

1. Change the pot every year. After one year of growth, the nutrients in the soil in the plum blossom pot are basically exhausted, and it is necessary to replace it with new soil to ensure the supply of nutrients.

2. Prune in time. It should be pruned in time 20 days after flowering, and the dead flowers and leaves as well as diseased and dead branches should be cut off. This can reduce nutrient consumption while increasing its ornamental value.
