Cultivation methods and precautions of potted spring orchids

Cultivation methods and precautions of potted spring orchids

1. Breeding methods

1. Soil

Use acidic soil to grow it, not alkaline. If you use special culture soil, it is best to use orchid mud, or mix rotten leaves and garden soil and stir evenly.

2. Temperature

It needs an atmosphere of 15 to 25 degrees. If it is from March to October, it needs to be 18 to 25 degrees. If it is from October to March of the following year, it needs to be 10 to 18 degrees. It can withstand temperatures as low as minus 5 to 8 degrees in severe winter, but it is best to keep the temperature at 3 to 8 degrees. You can place it by a south-facing window so that the soil in the pot will not freeze.

3. Watering

The amount of water should be determined according to different stages, different growth stages and different atmospheres. It stops growing during the severe winter, so you need to control watering, usually once every 5-7 days. The soil just needs to be slightly moist. If the soil is dry, you have to wait until the weather is clear and spray it with water that is close to the temperature in the house, but you cannot irrigate it.

4. Fertilization

Do not use large doses of fertilizer; make sure it is decomposed first. You can use organic fertilizer or special fertilizer. When it grows flower buds, only keep the healthiest and most beautiful bud, and cut off the others. You can also spray some flower-specific fertilizer to help it become more beautiful and prolong the flowering time. Wait until the flowers wither and remove them, don't wait for them to fall naturally. This can reduce the loss of nutrients and make it easier to bloom next year.

5. Pests

It is more prone to pests, such as scale insects, so it needs to be ventilated during maintenance and the soil should have good water permeability. If it is sick, you can treat it with thiophanate-methyl. If the situation is particularly serious, you need to change the soil and pot.

2. Precautions

1. It does not require a lot of fertilizer and needs to be maintained in a clean manner. If it is not strong, do not use large doses of fertilizer and do not wait until the soil is very dry before watering.

2. In the severe winter, there is heating in the houses in the north, which is not very good for the growth of its flower buds. It is best to move it to the balcony outside the house. If it is planted in the south, where the temperature is high and the humidity is high, it does not need a lot of nutrients and the chance of germination is very high, and it can germinate three or four times a year.
