With three simple steps, you can easily distinguish between Forsythia and Jasmine. Don’t make a fool of yourself!

1. Leaves

The leaves of Jasmine are green and never wither. If you want to see a beautiful plant that is green all year round, this is the plant you can choose. But forsythia is different. It is a representative of plants that will wither and turn into shed leaves. In addition, forsythia is different from ordinary plants. It is special in that its flowers bloom first and its leaves grow later. If you see a plant and can't tell which one it is, you can observe it carefully. If it only has bare flowers and no leaves, you can be sure that it is forsythia. But what if there are both flowers and leaves? At this time, we need to look at the second simple identification method.

2. Flowers

Generally speaking, if two flowers look similar and it is difficult to tell them apart, if we study them carefully we will find that they are actually different. Although they have many similarities, such as six petals and yellow color, we can find that the base of the jasmine is shorter than that of the forsythia. In addition, we can judge what they are based on their flowering period. Generally, under the same temperature and the same terrain conditions, the forsythia will bloom first, and its flowering period is from February to March, while the jasmine will bloom in March and April. If you see these two flowers in February and April and are struggling to tell them apart, it will be easy based on this knowledge point.

3. Branches

The branches of Jasmine are soft, and the small branches look like squares. They usually droop or appear spread out. However, the branches of Forsythia are not soft. They are slender and sharp. Because they are straight, their curved shapes have their own characteristics. Generally speaking, their shape is curved into an arch.
