How to grow large jade plants

How to grow large jade plants

1. Lighting

It is very sensitive to light and must not be exposed to sunlight. It must have moderate light. Too much light will make its color become dull and brown. But there cannot be too little light, as too little light will cause its growth to slow down, the leaves will not be so full, and it will be difficult to restore its original plump appearance. So we should put it in a place with bright light but not in direct sunlight.

2. Temperature

It likes warmth but is afraid of high temperatures. Eighteen to twenty-two degrees is the most suitable temperature for its growth. Therefore, due to the high temperature in summer, it will enter a dormant state. At this time, the ventilation of the jade plant should be strengthened and it should be moved to a cool place. The temperature in winter cannot be lower than 12℃, so it should be placed in a warm room. If the plant is grown in an environment below five degrees for a long time, it will not die from freezing, but it will be damaged and it will be difficult to recover to its original plump appearance.

3. Watering

There is no need to troubleshoot watering, and it does not require much water. Frequent spraying can increase the humidity of the air around it. Proper watering can make the jade plant grow fuller and more transparent. Keep the soil in the pot moist and don't water too much, as waterlogging will cause the roots to rot.

4. Repotting

Repot every one to two years.

5. Soil

The potting soil should be loose, fertile, sandy soil with good drainage and air permeability. It is generally planted in a mixture of leaf mold, garden soil and coarse sand or vermiculite. The ratio of these three types of soil is one to one to three. If you add a small amount of lime material, such as bone meal, it will make it grow more vigorously.

6. Fertilization

Apply well-rotted thin liquid fertilizer or compound fertilizer once every month. When applying fertilizer, be careful not to sprinkle the fertilizer on the leaves, otherwise the fertilizer on the leaves will form spots and affect its appearance. Because the plants enter a dormant period in the summer, you can stop fertilizing at this time and resume normal fertilization when the temperature drops and turns cooler. Early morning or evening on a sunny day are very suitable for fertilizing.
