Difference Between Geranium and Hydrangea

Difference Between Geranium and Hydrangea

1. Different appearance features

Geranium: This is a perennial herb with a height between 30 and 60 cm. It has a relatively straight stem, sometimes with many branches, but sometimes without. The shape of the leaves is approximately round or kidney-shaped, with wavy cracks on the edges, and both sides of the leaves are covered with some transparent soft hairs. Normally, it blooms from May to July and the colors are very bright.

Hydrangea: It is a shrub with a height of between 1 and 4 meters. It has many branches on its stem, which are ray-shaped and relatively thick. They are purple-gray to light gray and are not covered with soft hairs. The leaves are obovate or broadly elliptical in shape, ranging from 6 to 15 cm in length, and pointed in front. Generally speaking, its flowering period is between June and August. The flowers come in many colors, including pink, light blue or white, and the flowers are full, large and beautiful.

2. Different growth habits and geographical distribution

Geranium: It is native to southern Africa and was later widely cultivated throughout China. They like warmth in winter and prefer cool environments in summer. Generally in winter, the indoor temperature should be kept between 10 and 15 degrees, and should not be lower than 8 degrees at night, so that the plant can bloom normally. But generally the most suitable temperature for its growth is between 15 and 20 degrees.

Hydrangea: It is native to China and Japan. It prefers a warm and slightly humid place. Generally, the most suitable temperature for its growth is between 18 and 28 degrees. In winter, the temperature cannot be lower than 5 degrees. When the flower buds begin to differentiate, the temperature needs to be maintained between 5 and 7 degrees. This can last for 6 to 8 weeks. In addition, a temperature of 20 degrees can make it bloom faster. After flowering, just keep the temperature at 16 degrees.

3. Different main values

Geranium: It has a sweeter taste and smells a bit like rose and mint. It can be used as a psychological medicine. For example, when you feel very sad and anxious, using it can immediately calm your mood and effectively relieve your stress. Of course, it can also be used as a physiologically effective medicine to treat a variety of diseases, such as helping the liver and kidneys detoxify, and the effect is also very good. In addition to the medicinal value mentioned above, it also has very good cosmetic value and is good for daily beauty care.

Hydrangea: Compared with geranium, hydrangea has only one medicinal value. It can treat some heart heat and irritability, but it contains certain toxins, so the dosage must be carefully considered.
