How to take cuttings of trumpet creeper

1. Prepare branches

Choose 2-year-old strong trumpet creeper branches, cut them into 10 to 20 cm lengths, and keep 2 to 3 green leaves on the top.

2. Cutting time

Spring and autumn are the best time for cuttings, spring in the south and autumn in the north.

3. Drained soil

Use river sand or garden soil mixed with leaf mold to create a slightly acidic soil with good drainage.

4. Branch cuttings

Soak the cuttings in the rooting agent for 5 minutes, then insert them into the soil, water them thoroughly and compact the soil.

5. Rooting and maintenance

Control the ambient temperature between 23 and 28 degrees Celsius, keep the soil moist, and roots will take shape in about 20 days.

Provide more than 6 hours of full sunlight and place in a well-ventilated location that can receive direct sunlight.

2. Reasonable fertilization

Fertilize once 10 to 15 days after germination, mainly nitrogen fertilizer before May, and mainly phosphorus and potassium fertilizer thereafter. Fertilize once 7 to 10 days after flowering and stop fertilizing in winter.

3. Timely pruning

Prune dead and weak branches in early spring and provide support to aid climbing growth.
