How to propagate fragrant pine plants and how to take cuttings

How to propagate fragrant pine plants and how to take cuttings

1. Seed propagation

Fragrant pine plants are mostly propagated by sowing in spring. Choose breathable and well-drained soil as the substrate, and choose healthy and plump seeds, so that the germination rate will be higher. The sowing method is very simple. Just sprinkle the seeds on the soil surface, cover with a thin layer of soil, water them appropriately, and then place them in a ventilated place. Small sprouts will grow in about half a month. You should observe the growth conditions regularly. When the seedlings grow steadily and have a few young leaves, they can be transplanted.

2. Cutting propagation

1. Cutting time: Fragrant pine plants can also be propagated by cuttings. The time should be selected from March to May in spring or September to November in autumn. The climate in these two time periods is warm and suitable, which is more conducive to rooting.

2. Processing of cuttings: When taking cuttings, choose strong cuttings that are not too long, and the length should be controlled at about 10 cm. It is best to pay attention to the more branches. In addition, you need to prepare a breathable, loose matrix and disinfect it before use.

3. Inserting into the soil: After processing the cuttings and preparing the required substrate, you can insert them into the soil. Pay attention to the depth of cuttings. It should not be too deep. Three to five centimeters deep in the soil is enough. After cutting, keep the plants moist and ventilate the space more frequently. This way, the plants will take root soon, proving that the cuttings have survived.
