Medicinal value of Datura flower

Medicinal value of Datura flower

Application in emergency medicine

The alkaloids contained in Datura have many uses. In the late 1950s, it was used to treat certain critical illnesses with good results. Its application in emergency medicine is becoming more and more extensive, with remarkable results.

Therapeutic role in respiratory diseases

Datura contains scopolamine, which is used as medicine and has antispasmodic, sedative, analgesic and anesthetic functions. It has a good effect in treating various respiratory diseases such as respiratory failure, various types of pulmonary edema, hemoptysis, asthma, etc. It can help patients reduce the adverse reactions of gastrointestinal discomfort such as nausea and vomiting during treatment, and can also improve the efficacy.

Therapeutic effects in cardiovascular diseases

Clinical practice has shown that scopolamine (Datura stramonium extract) has achieved good results in the treatment of patients with heart failure, ventricular arrhythmia, angina pectoris, and hypertensive crisis.

Sores on the face

Dry the datura flowers, grind them into powder, and apply a small amount on the sores.

Slow shock in children

Use seven datura flowers, two and a half cents of Gastrodia elata, ten whole scorpions (fried), two and a half cents each of Arisaema consanguineum (blasted), cinnabar, and frankincense, and grind them into powder. Take half a penny each time, mixed with mint soup.

As an anesthetic

In autumn, collect Datura flowers and Hemp seeds flowers, dry them in the shade, grind them into powder in equal parts, and take three grams of them with hot wine. After a while, I felt dizzy and drunk. It is best to take this before cutting a sore or burning it, and you won’t feel the pain.

The main function of scopolamine in Datura is to relax muscles and inhibit the secretion of sweat glands, so it is quite appropriate for the ancients to call this medicine "sweating drug". If you want to use Datura for treatment, you must follow the doctor's instructions and never do it yourself to avoid mistakes and poisoning.
