Different leaves

There are some differences between the firecracker vine and the trumpet creeper when looking at their leaves. The leaves of the firecracker plant and the trumpet creeper are both oval in shape, but the edges of the leaves of the firecracker plant are very smooth, while the edges of the leaves of the trumpet creeper are serrated, so the two can be distinguished.

Different number of flowers

The flowers of the firecracker vine and the trumpet creeper grow together, but the two can be distinguished by the number of flowers.

The flowers of trumpet creeper usually grow in clusters and are relatively large. The flowers of the firecracker plant grow densely together and look like a string of firecrackers.

Therefore, in terms of quantity, the densely packed ones are the firecracker flowers, while the relatively sparse ones are the trumpet creepers.

Different flower shapes

The flowers of firecracker vine and trumpet creeper are quite similar, but there are also obvious differences in their shapes.

First of all, the flowers of the trumpet creeper are larger, while the flowers of the firecracker creeper are smaller. The flowers of trumpet creeper are relatively thick, while the flowers of firecracker creeper are relatively slender.

Secondly, the petals are different. The petals of the trumpet creeper are round and when open, they are relatively flat, like a small trumpet. The petals of the firecracker flower are relatively slender, open and bent backwards.

Also, the colors of the flowers vary. The petals of the firecracker flower are orange-red, as are the trumpet creeper, but the color on the center side of the trumpet creeper is darker than the back.
