Cultivation methods and precautions of Purple Bead Grass

How to cultivate purple bead grass

Light and temperature

Callicarpa prefers warmth and grows better in a cool environment. When growing Callicarpa in northern regions, you can place it in a sunny place sheltered from the wind. The suitable temperature for the growth of Purple Beadgrass is between 15℃ and 25℃. When the winter is too cold, some branches will freeze to death and can be cut off in the next year.

Watering and fertilizing

Callicarpa has strict requirements on water. It likes a humid environment and is afraid of drought, but it cannot have water accumulation. Therefore, when growing Purple Beadgrass, you should pay attention to the following: in the dry season, you need to water it more and increase the air humidity by spraying water; in the rainy season, you need to drain the water in time, because Purple Beadgrass is not tolerant to waterlogging, and stagnant water will have an adverse effect on its growth.

Fertilization is also necessary. When planting Purple Beadgrass, a certain amount of base fertilizer needs to be applied, and top dressing needs to be done in time during the growth period. In spring and autumn, you can apply decomposed farmyard manure. From April to October, you can apply thin manure water every two months.

Reproduction method

The main methods of propagation of Purple Beadgrass are sowing propagation, cutting propagation and division propagation. Seed propagation is carried out in March and April in spring, and transplanting can be done in autumn. Cutting propagation and division propagation are also carried out in spring.

prune

Pruning is essential for the good growth of Callicarpa ovata. After the fruit of the Callicarpa ovata falls, you need to cut off the branches of the year, leaving 1-2 nodes, so that it can bear fruit every year. After pruning and shaping, the Callicarpa bonsai can also show a different beautiful scenery.
