Pearl orange cultivation methods and precautions

Pearl orange cultivation methods and precautions

Growth habit

Pearl orange is native to the southern hemisphere and was introduced to Chinese liquor, but its ornamental value is high and it is loved by people. Pearl orange can be planted in pots or in the ground. Potted plants can be viewed indoors and placed on desks, while those planted in the ground can be used as ground cover fruit-viewing plants.

Pearl orange prefers a cool and humid environment and does not like direct sunlight. The suitable temperature for its growth is between 10℃ and 20℃, and the soil must be breathable.

Farming methods

Light and temperature

Pearl orange needs a certain amount of light to grow. It can tolerate partial shade, but should avoid direct strong sunlight. During the cultivation process, the pearl orange plants should be placed under bright scattered light, especially in summer, and shade is needed, but not too much, which will affect flowering and fruiting.

Pearl orange has strong cold resistance, and the suitable temperature for its growth is between 10℃ and 20℃. It can withstand temperatures below -10℃ in winter, but the temperature for overwintering should be kept above 5℃.

Watering and fertilizing

Pearl orange likes a slightly moist growing environment. The potting soil needs to be kept moist in summer and slightly dry in winter. Water in moderation and make sure not to water the leaves or fruits to avoid plant rot. You can water by immersion or spraying. Fertilization should also be moderate, and fertilizer is needed every 1-2 weeks during the growing period.

Precautions

Reproduction method

Pearl orange can be propagated by sowing in February and March, or by division in August.

Flowering Note

When the pearl orange is in bloom, it needs to be artificially pollinated so that it can produce more fruits.

Pests and diseases

Pearl orange is sometimes infected with gray mold, so you need to pay attention to controlling the humidity of the growing environment.
