Straw daisy blooms

Straw daisy is an annual herbaceous flower of the genus Helichrysum in the Asteraceae family. The biggest feature of this flower is that its petals feel like wax paper, dry and crisp, not as moist as ordinary petals. The dried petals of strawflower are golden yellow, the color is bright and long-lasting, and its name means "sun" and "gold" in ancient Greek. Because its flowers do not fall off after drying, like those made of wax, they are a good material for making dried flowers and are a natural "handicraft" unique to nature.

When the straw daisy blooms, there will be a head inflorescence growing at the top of the main branch or side branch, and the diameter of the corolla is about 3~6cm. The straw daisy has multiple layers of bracts, which are imbricate. The outer layer is oval and membranous, dry and shiny, and shaped like petals. It is often mistaken for the petals of straw daisy. It comes in white, pink, orange, red, yellow and other colors. However, the true flower of straw daisy is a tubular flower located in the center of the disk, and its color is yellow.

There is a characteristic of the flowering of strawflower, that is, the flowers of strawflower will open on sunny days and close on rainy days and at night.

After the flowering period, straw daisy enters the fruiting period. Straw daisy produces small fruits, which are thin, stick-shaped, straight or curved, and have four edges. The seeds are very small, usually weighing only 0.85g per thousand seeds.
