How to grow echinacea

illumination

Echinacea is a long-day plant. During the flowering stage, it is necessary to ensure 14-16 hours of light per day, and high-intensity light must be maintained for 7-8 weeks. It usually blooms in late May in northern regions and the flowering period can last until September.

temperature

During the growing period of Echinacea, the daytime temperature should be maintained at 16℃-24℃, and the night temperature should be maintained at 10℃-16℃.

Fertilization

The application rate of water-soluble fertilizer is 50-75rrg/kg of nitrogen from the appearance of radicle to the expansion of cotyledons, 100-150mg/kg of nitrogen from the expansion of cotyledons to the growth of 4 true leaves, and 250mg/kg of nitrogen after transplanting. Fertilization can be applied 1-2 times a week in each cycle.

Moisture

Echinacea is strong and drought-resistant, so watering should follow the principle of "watering when dry and watering when wet". Wait until the soil in the pot is completely dry before watering, and water it thoroughly at one time.

soil

Echinacea is not very demanding on soil, but it grows best in deep, fertile, humus-rich soil.

Precautions for growing echinacea

Reasonable fertilization

Appropriately supplement 0.05% magnesium sulfate 1-2 times to prevent magnesium deficiency in plants.

Also take chelated iron 1-2 times to prevent iron deficiency.

It is recommended to add long-acting slow-release fertilizer to the potting soil when planting.

Keep warm in winter

As the temperature in northern China drops in November, the echinacea needs to be moved indoors for maintenance. Keeping the room temperature above 0℃ will allow the echinacea to grow healthily.

Pay attention to ventilation

Place echinacea in a ventilated and breathable place to keep the air circulating.
