Cultivation methods and precautions of aster

How to grow aster

Water supply

Aster prefers a humid environment but is afraid of excessive moisture. It is a shallow-rooted plant, so the soil in the pot should be kept moist during the growing period, which is beneficial to the growth of the plant. Since it is relatively dry in summer, the frequency of watering can be appropriately increased.

illumination

Aster prefers warm, sunny environments and grows vigorously in an environment with good ventilation and sufficient light.

Aster is sensitive to sunlight and prefers sunshine.

temperature

The suitable growth temperature for aster is 15℃-25℃. It has relatively weak cold resistance and is not resistant to extreme heat.

The temperature in winter cannot be lower than 3℃. If the temperature reaches below 0℃, the stems and leaves will be damaged by frost.

If the temperature exceeds 30℃ in summer, the chrysanthemum will bloom less or the flowering time will be delayed.

soil

Aster prefers fertile, moist and well-drained soil. Loam and sandy loam are generally used, and appropriate fertilizer should be applied according to the growth of the plant.

Precautions for aster cultivation

Pay attention to moderate watering

Watering should be carried out according to the actual situation. The soil in the pot should not be too moist, otherwise it will cause the aster to grow too tall and fall over, and diseases may occur. Waterlogging caused by excessive watering will also cause the aster to rot and die.

Keep light for a long time

Aster likes sunlight. If it is exposed to sunlight for 15 hours a day, the plant will grow vigorously, be relatively short and strong, and bloom earlier. On the contrary, if the sunlight is short, the plant will grow taller and the flowering period will be relatively delayed.

Therefore, when growing the plants, place them where they can receive direct sunlight.

Prune branches frequently

There is no need to pinch the top of aster, but in order to make the flowers on the main branches more prominent, you can trim the side branches frequently, keeping 5-7 flower branches on each plant.
