How to cultivate water banana

Temperature and light

The water banana likes a warm and humid environment and requires sufficient light but is afraid of the scorching sun and is not cold-resistant.

The temperature requirement of water banana is relatively high, and the suitable growth temperature is between 15-25℃. Because it is not cold-resistant, the winter temperature required for wintering is between 15-20℃, and at least should not be lower than 5℃.

The water banana is suitable for growing in a warm place with sufficient light. When the light is too strong in summer, it needs to be properly shaded or moved to a semi-shaded place. In winter, it can be cultivated in a greenhouse or indoor sunny place.

The banana plant has strong adaptability to soil. You can choose sandy or clay soil that is deep, fertile, well-drained and rich in humus. The commonly used soil is a mixture of equal amounts of peat soil, fertile garden soil and river sand.

Fertilization

When planting the water banana, you can add some base fertilizer, and fertilize once every half a month during the growing season. After entering the flowering period, manure should be applied once every 7-10 days. If phosphorus and potassium fertilizers are properly supplemented, the flowers can bloom more vigorously.

Watering

The water requirement of water banana changes with the temperature. In spring, as the temperature rises, gradually increase the amount of watering. In the hot summer, you can spray the banana plant in the morning and water it thoroughly in the afternoon to keep the soil in the pot moist and the air humidity relatively high. In summer, the banana tree will enter its flowering period, and sufficient water should be provided at this time. When the temperature drops in winter, you need to control watering. As long as you keep the soil in the pot slightly moist, the plant can survive the cold winter.
