Native varieties

Melancholy Gladiolus

Also known as garden-leaf gladiolus, it has a medium-sized bulb, cylindrical leaves, and sparse flowers that bloom to one side. The flowers are yellowish white with fine purple or brown lines.

Gladiolus multiflora

The plant is tall, 45 to 60 cm, with more than 20 large white flowers.

Crimson Gladiolus

Also called red gladiolus, it has a relatively large bulb and a plant height of 90 to 120 cm. There are 6 to 7 flowers on each stem, and the small bell-shaped flowers have white spots.

Parrot Gladiolus

The bulb is large and flattened, the plant is about 1 meter tall, and the flowers bloom on one side. The flowers are large and yellow with dark purple spots.

Primrose Gladiolus

The bulb is large and spherical, the plant is short, with 3 to 5 flowers on one side, and the corolla is purple with a slight blush.

Hybrids

Gander Gladiolus

It is a hybrid of parrot gladiolus and scarlet gladiolus. The plant is 90 to 150 cm tall, with long inflorescences and many flowers. The flowers are red or yellow with various colored stripes.

Gladiolus kohlii

It is a hybrid of melancholy gladiolus and scarlet gladiolus. The plant is 60 cm tall, with linear sword-shaped leaves, gray-green, 2 to 4 yellow-purple flowers, magenta stripes and yellow spots on the petal ends, and a fragrance.

Gladiolus leonbergii

Purple gladiolus and Gander gladiolus are hybrids of their parents. Its main characteristic is its strong cold resistance. Creeping branch-like buds can grow at the base of the bulb, which will form bulblets at the end after elongation. If the bulblets are planted, they will bloom the following year.

Qi's Gladiolus

It was a hybrid of Shao's gladiolus and Gande gladiolus, and was later improved by an American named Hallock. Its hybrids have the remarkable characteristics of being strong in sex and having large and beautiful flowers.
