Cultivation methods and precautions of bamboo palm

Soil requirements

The soil for planting bamboo palm can be leaf mold + garden soil + river sand, mixed evenly. When planting, add an appropriate amount of base fertilizer to the soil and use burnt clay pots.

Lighting requirements

Brown bamboo is a southern plant and should be maintained in a warm, humid, ventilated and shaded environment. On weekdays, do not expose the plant to direct sunlight, otherwise the leaves will turn yellow. The flower pot should be placed under the shade of a tree. Palm bamboo grows slowly, especially in the summer when the sun is strong and the shade is over 50%.

Watering method

The temperature is high in summer and the soil tends to dry out easily, so you need to water the plants once in the morning and evening, and spray the leaves with water.

Don't water too frequently in spring and autumn, just keep the soil moist and make sure there is no water accumulation in the soil. Standing water can cause root rot.

Control watering appropriately in winter, and do not water unless the soil is extremely dry. Try to add water at noon on a sunny day.

Fertilization method

Apply decomposed liquid fertilizer every 3 to 4 weeks in spring and autumn to promote plant growth.

In summer, apply thin fertilizers frequently and add a small amount of ferrous sulfate to the fertilizer to make the leaves green. Just fertilize 1 to 2 times a month.

In May, you can water the plants with paclobutrazol, which can effectively control the height of the plants and make them short and strong.

Pruning and repotting

The pruning of brown bamboo is very simple. The main thing is to cut off the withered and yellow leaves to create a sense of layering between the branches.

Repot every two years, and divide new plants appropriately. The time for repotting is generally from March to April every year. Replace part of the old soil and disinfect before planting.

Precautions

During the growth period of the bamboo palm, water should be sprayed on the leaves of the plant frequently, which is suitable for potted plants.

Apply fertilizer in small amounts but more frequently. Organic fertilizer is the main fertilizer, with trace fertilizers as an auxiliary.

The bamboo palm needs a lot of water. When watering, remember to pour water from the growth point of the bamboo palm, let the clean water flow from top to bottom to the roots, and maintain the humidity in the pot.
