Growth conditions and characteristics of agarwood

Agarwood Growth Conditions

Agarwood, also known as Malayan agarwood, mainly grows in tropical forests. The plant prefers light and has a strong ability to adapt to the environment. It can grow healthily on brick red soil, yellow-brown soil, red soil, and gravel soil.

The most suitable growth temperature for agarwood is 19-27℃. The plant's cold resistance is relatively poor, especially in the young tree stage. It may be frostbitten when the temperature is below 5℃.

The growth period and process of agarwood

Agarwood mostly grows in mountain rainforests and tropical rainforests, mainly distributed south of the Tropic of Cancer. It is mostly planted in spring, grows in spring and summer, and has a long growth cycle.

The growth process of agarwood is relatively long. The formation of agarwood goes through multiple stages including injury, fungal invasion, and persistent infection. It is formed after years of deposition.

The process and method of planting agarwood

1. Choose soil: It is best to plant agarwood during the Qingming Festival, which is from March to May. The soil should be fertile, loose and well-drained.

2. Planting density: The general spacing between agarwood trees is about 2x3 meters, and about 110 trees can be planted in one acre of land.

3. Planting and maintenance: When planting, cut off the side branches and leaves of the tree, leaving only a few leaves on the top, and then water the tree thoroughly to help it take root, which can increase the survival rate of the plant.
