How to make potted wisteria bloom year after year

How to make potted wisteria bloom year after year

Choose mature seedlings in pots

Whether potted wisteria flowers can bloom every year depends on the growth years of the wisteria. Most of the seeds sold on the market now are seedlings, and you have to wait one or two years for them to bloom. So just buy adult seedlings and plant them. You can observe its taproot. The taproot of adult wisteria is longer.

Planting in the shade first and then in the sun

When planting mature wisteria, the flowerpot should be deeper. Stretch the roots as far as possible, and coil the parts that cannot be stretched in the pot.

After planting, the flower pots should be placed in a ventilated and shaded place to dry for a week, and then taken to the sun for normal maintenance.

Flowers bloom in March

Wisteria enters its flowering period in early March. After flowering, you should reduce watering and fertilizing appropriately to extend the flowering period. It is necessary to trim the dead flowers in time to avoid pod formation. When there are too many flower clusters, the flower branches can be thinned out appropriately to reduce nutrient consumption.

Prune branches promptly

If wisteria grows too fast, its branches and vines will stretch and climb towards surrounding objects. It is necessary to shorten its branches and vines in time to prevent them from consuming nutrients due to rapid growth and affecting flowering.

Proper water reduction

In daily maintenance, try to reduce water and control fertilizer to ensure normal growth of branches and vines. When new leaves appear, add phosphorus fertilizer.

Winter maintenance

Wisteria can withstand low temperatures. In winter, place it in a low temperature of around 0℃, ensure that the soil in the pot is slightly moist, and allow the plant to fully hibernate. The branches and leaves will be lush in spring!
