Can pepper trees be pruned? When is the best time to prune?

Pepper trees can be pruned , and the timing of pruning is relatively important. It should be done during the high temperature period in summer , preferably from late July to early to mid-August, because the first fruit picking has been completed at this time, and the plant is in a resting state when the temperature difference between day and night is not too large. The pruning effect will be better at this time.

How to prune pepper trees

When pruning a pepper tree, you should not prune it in the early stages of growth. It is recommended to wait until the side branches of the plant grow to about 15 centimeters before pruning, in order to promote better root development of the pepper seedlings.

When pruning, you should choose reasonable weather, and try to do it in the morning or afternoon when the weather is clear. Do not prune in the morning when the dew has not dried or when it is cloudy or rainy.

In addition, the pepper tree should be pruned frequently, because the leaf buds on the side branches of the pepper sprout very quickly, so it is necessary to prune and remove the buds every 2 or 3 days, and the useless side branches below the main pepper should be removed as soon as possible. Because the pruning of large branches can easily affect most of the main trunk of the plant, it is necessary not to close the main trunk when thinning large branches.

Tips for pruning pepper trees

When pruning a pepper tree, you must protect the flowers, fruits and leaves growing on the plant from falling off. Use sharp scissors to cut them off cleanly to protect the pruning wounds. After pruning, be sure to disinfect and sterilize the wounds with drugs.
