Key points for home care of Hosta

soil

Hostas are not very picky about soil but grow better in moist, fertile, well-drained soil. Therefore, when choosing a pot and matching the soil, place the larger particles at the bottom and cover the surface with a layer of fine soil.

Watering

Hosta likes a shady and humid environment, especially during the growing period, it is better to keep the soil moist. But the amount of watering should be controlled. If you water too much, the roots will rot and the leaves will turn yellow. When the air is dry, spray water on the leaves every day to prevent them from drying out and wilting.

Sunlight

Hosta does not like light and can grow well with just weak light. Do not place it under strong light, as this will easily cause the leaves to turn yellow. Plant it on the shady side of a building or under the shade of a large tree.

temperature

The Hosta has pure white flowers, tenacious vitality, and strong cold resistance. It is not too late to move it indoors in late November . As long as the indoor temperature is not lower than 0 ℃, it can be kept alive.

Fertilization

The flowering period of hosta is from July to September , so it needs more care in the two months before flowering. Start fertilizing in early May , apply thin fertilizer once a month. The frequency of fertilization can be appropriately increased during flowering in July and August , and stop fertilizing in late September . After each fertilization, water and loosen the soil in time to facilitate soil loosening and ventilation.
