The main varieties of Clivia

Clivia miniata

The fleshy roots are white and unbranched. There are many leaves, which are fan-shaped and arranged neatly. The inflorescence is limited and arranged in an umbrella shape. The flower stems are flat and solid. The small flowers have stalks and are funnel-shaped. The colors vary: orange-yellow, light yellow, orange-red, light red, dark red, etc. The seeds are large and spherical. The leaf width is usually less than 50 cm, and one bud can have more than 20 flowers when blooming.

Clivia miniata

It is a small plant, usually 80~130 mm tall. The leaves are bright green, 3 to 9 cm long, 2.5 to 6 cm wide, and very slender. The flowering period is long, from late autumn to winter. The flower color is a single orange-red, with distinct green petals.

Clivia with stems

The plant height is 50~150 cm. The length of a mature stemmed Clivia can be up to one meter, and in special cases can reach three meters. The flowering period is in spring and summer.

Swamp Clivia

The swamp orchid was first identified in 2004 and was discovered in South Africa. The soil where it grows is sandy and acidic soil. It is the largest Clivia discovered so far, and can grow up to 1.8 meters. In swampy areas, individual roots can grow up to 4.5 meters.

Clivia miniata

It is strong and likes warm, humid and semi-shady environment. Requires well-drained, fertile loam. Not cold-resistant. Clivia can be used to decorate flower beds or as cut flowers in South China, and can be grown as indoor potted plants in East China and areas north of the Yangtze River for viewing its leaves and flowers.

Clivia exotica

The strange Clivia grows natively on mountain slopes, either in groups or alone. The growing environment is relatively dry and there is a precipitation period in winter. The exotic Clivia is clearly different from other varieties. There is a white stripe in the center of the leaves, and it only takes 5 months to mature. At present, this type of Clivia is under protection and is rarely seen in homes!

Clivia miniata

The leaves are rough and strip-shaped, about 30-80 cm long and 2.5-5 cm wide. There are usually 20 to 60 small flowers on the inflorescence, and the flowers hang down. It grows slowly, and it takes 8 to 10 years, or even longer, from a seed to flowering.
