Planting time and method of large-leaf water spinach

Planting time of big leaf water spinach

Large-leaf water spinach prefers a warm environment. The seeds will germinate only when the ambient temperature is above 15 degrees. Therefore, it is best to sow in spring and autumn. Usually, the southern region can choose to do so between April and July, while the temperature in the north is low, so it can be postponed to June-August.

How to plant big leaf water spinach

1. Soil: Large-leaf water spinach has a wide adaptability to soil, as long as the soil is not too sticky. In addition, there is no need to add too much fertilizer to the soil. Too much fertilizer is not conducive to its growth.

2. Processing: The seeds of large-leaf water spinach are very hard, so they must be processed before planting. They can be soaked in warm water at about 50-60 degrees for a quarter of an hour or half an hour, and stirred constantly during soaking, and then soaked in clean water for a day.

3. Germination: After soaking, the seeds of large-leaf water spinach should be placed in a greenhouse for germination. During the germination process, they should be rinsed every day. When the seeds turn white, they can be planted.

4. Planting: Large-leaf water spinach can be sown in rows or broadcast. Put the germinated seeds into the soil, then cover the seeds with a layer of soil and keep the soil moist.

Precautions for planting large-leaf water spinach

Fertilizer should be applied in time after planting large-leaf water spinach. Use urine for fertilization during the seedling period. When the seedlings grow to four leaves, you can mix compound fertilizer and urea and apply them. During the harvest period, use compound fertilizer. Large-leaf water spinach requires more water, so water it in time after fertilization to keep the soil moist.
