Key points for the maintenance of kapok. Can it be planted in the north?

1. Maintenance points of kapok

1. Soil: It likes loose, fertile, breathable, water-permeable and slightly acidic soil. When caring for it, try to meet its requirements for the soil so that it will grow better. You can add an appropriate amount of base fertilizer to sandy soil to basically meet the needs.

2. Light: It likes the sun, and it can grow vigorously only if it is exposed to more sun during the growth period. When caring for them, whether they are bonsai or ground-planted plants, they need more light. Lack of light will hinder growth and affect flowering.

3. Water: It has strong drought resistance and is afraid of waterlogging environment. When maintaining the plants, it is best to water them according to the principle of preferring dryness to wetness. In case of continuous rainy days, the water must be drained in time to avoid waterlogging.

4. Temperature: It likes to grow in an environment with a temperature of 20 to 30 degrees. It has poor cold resistance and the temperature cannot be lower than 5 degrees. Therefore, you must pay attention to the low temperatures in winter when caring for them, and move potted plants indoors as soon as possible to avoid frostbite.

2. Can kapok be grown in the north?

Kapok cannot be grown in the north, especially if grown in the ground. There are two reasons. One is that the temperature is too low. It is not cold-resistant and the minimum temperature must be above 5 degrees. In the north, the winter temperature is often below zero, and the plants will be frozen to death. Second, the soil pH is not suitable. It likes acidic soil. The soil in the north is too alkaline, which will hinder its growth.
