Can pumpkin skin be eaten? How to eat it?

1. Can pumpkin skin be eaten?

The tender pumpkin skin can be eaten. Pumpkin peel does not contain any irritating ingredients, and it also contains relatively rich nutrients, such as dietary fiber, vitamins, and trace elements such as iron, potassium, sodium, phosphorus, and magnesium. After these nutrients are absorbed by the human body, they can effectively supplement the nutrients needed by the human body. It just needs to be cleaned thoroughly before eating, and it is best to soak it in salt water, or rub the pumpkin skin with salt.

It should be noted that the rind of old pumpkins is not suitable for eating. Because the skin of old pumpkin is very hard and difficult to chew. Moreover, the nutritional content is greatly reduced and has no edible value. The skin of young pumpkin is relatively thin, crispy and tender, and the nutrients are not lost, so it has a higher nutritional value. Generally, after the pumpkin matures, its skin will gradually become very hard. This can protect the internal flesh, prevent water loss, and appropriately extend the edible time of the pumpkin.

2. How to eat

First, scrub the surface of the tender pumpkin with salt, and then rinse off the salt on the surface of the pumpkin with clean water. Then cut the pumpkin open and scoop out the pulp. Use a knife to cut the pumpkin into thin slices and set aside. Heat a pot and pour in a proper amount of oil. Add the pumpkin skin and stir-fry. Then add a proper amount of water, cover the pot and simmer for a while. After all the juice in the pot is absorbed, add an appropriate amount of salt for seasoning and sprinkle some chopped green onions according to personal taste before serving.
