How to raise mountain turtles to make them more vigorous?

The mountain turtle tree, also known as the Brazilian creeping vine, is a very popular indoor green plant. The leaves grow very fast and are round like copper coins. So how can we raise mountain turtles to make them more vigorous? Let’s learn the method below.

1. Astigmatism environment

Mountain turtle is a light-loving plant, but it is very shade-tolerant and can still grow very well in a dark room. Try to choose an environment with diffuse light for it. It does not need to be exposed to the sun. As long as there is light, the color of its leaves will be darker and the white color of the veins will be more obvious.

2. Reasonable watering

There is a huge spherical root at the bottom of the mountain turtle, which can store a lot of water and nutrients. Therefore, the mountain tortoise has a strong ability to resist drought and does not need to be watered frequently. When caring for mountain tortoises, you can be more casual about watering them, and it doesn’t matter if you water them more or less. Generally speaking, you need to wait until the soil is 80% to 90% dry before watering. The frequency of watering is also related to the season. Water normally in spring and autumn. In the high temperature in summer, water evaporates quickly, so watering can be more frequent. In the growing environment under the low temperature in winter, watering should be reduced accordingly.

3. Appropriate fertilization

Mountain tortoise is a plant that likes fertilizer, so when you first plant it in the pot, you can add some decomposed manure and other organic fertilizers to the soil. Then in the subsequent maintenance process, you can water it with organic nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium water-soluble fertilizers once every month, which can effectively promote leaf growth and make the green leaves of the mountain tortoise potted plants quickly cover the shelves.

4. Humidity and temperature

Mountain tortoises have high requirements for temperature and humidity. The most suitable growth temperature is 24-28 degrees Celsius and the humidity is 50-60%. In order to maintain suitable temperature and humidity, you can use a humidifier, sprayer or place a basin of water next to the flower pot to increase the humidity.

5. Regular pruning

The mountain tortoise grows very fast. If it is not pruned regularly, the plant will easily become too dense and affect the ornamental effect. Every once in a while, you can cut back the branches that are too long to keep the plant neat and balanced. Use sharp pruning tools when pruning to avoid injury.
