Sowing time of lotus

Bowl lotus belongs to the Nymphaeaceae family. It can be sown at any time as long as the water temperature can be maintained above 16℃, but the best sowing time is March-April. The climate at this time is more suitable, and the temperature and humidity are also suitable, and the germination rate of sowing is relatively high.

How to plant lotus

Seed treatment: The shell of water lily seeds is hard, so they need to be artificially broken before soaking. Be careful not to damage the kernel inside, and do not remove the shell. The purpose of grinding the skin is to penetrate water through this gap, so that the seeds can absorb water and swell.

Soaking to accelerate germination: Soak the broken seeds in warm water at about 20 to 40 degrees. During this period, change the water every 1 to 2 days. Generally speaking, as long as the seed coat can absorb water and swell, it will germinate.

Transplanting of seedlings: Choose bottomless ceramic pots and plastic pots for planting. Add half a pot of garden soil and river pond mud into the pot. Soak it in water 2 weeks in advance. Do not apply fertilizer. When transplanting, just press the fine roots of the plant into the mud. Add appropriate amount of water after transplanting.

Flowering time of lotus

Generally speaking, the time from sowing to flowering of bowl lotus is uncertain, depending on when it is sown. Bowl lotus sown in spring will bloom after 50 to 60 days, while bowl lotus sown in autumn will take longer, 60 to 80 days.
