The flower language of trumpet creeperThe flower language of trumpet creeper is "admiration and reputation", which symbolizes the love of a mother. Nowadays, it is often put together with holly and primrose to make bouquets to express love for mothers. The legend of trumpet creeperAccording to legend, there lived a wealthy man named Dong in Longdishan Village in western Fujian in ancient times. He had a lovely and beautiful daughter named Lingxiao who could recite poems and paint. But Ling Xiao has reached the age to get married, and she secretly falls in love with Liu Mingquan, the family's long-term worker. Ling Xiao secretly sewed new clothes for Liu Mingquan and often gave him delicious food. The two of them made a vow to each other and agreed to stay together through life and death. But the rich man was looking for a son-in-law, hoping to find a suitable husband for his daughter. Eventually, they found out that Ling Xiao and Liu Mingquan were in love. The rich man was very angry and beat Liu Mingquan severely, then drove him to the wilderness. Liu Mingquan passed away late at night. The next day, kind villagers buried him by a small river outside the village. A few days later, a willow tree miraculously grew on Liu Mingquan's grave. It had lush branches and leaves, and its slender willow branches swayed in the wind, as if sobbing and telling of its sorrow. Ling Xiao, who was locked up by the rich man for violating the family rules, missed Liu Mingquan day and night, refused to eat or drink, and looked haggard. One day, Ling Xiao learned from her maid that Liu Mingquan had passed away. She rushed out of the house like a madman and threw herself in front of Liu Mingquan's grave. Ling Xiao bowed three times, then hit his head against the willow tree and died. In an instant, he turned into a wooden vine, winding around the branches and climbing up, snuggling up to the willow tree. Gradually, the vine was covered with flowers. Later, the villagers discovered that Miss Lingxiao had turned into a flower, which could promote blood circulation, remove blood stasis, detoxify and reduce swelling, and also treat arthritis and bruises. To commemorate the trumpet creeper girl, people named this flower "Trumpet Creeper", and the name has been used to this day. |
