How to plant raw melon seeds

How to plant raw melon seeds

1. Planting method

When planting, the hole tray sowing method is usually used. One seed is planted in each hole, then covered with soil and watered thoroughly. Normally, the soil should be kept moist and a suitable temperature environment should be provided, about 25 degrees, so that the seeds can germinate and survive within three or four days of planting. If sown in spring or autumn, it will bloom in about two months. If planted in summer or winter, it will bloom in about 80 days.

2. Later maintenance methods

1. Light: It likes light, especially during the seedling period, it needs to be given sufficient sunlight, so that the seedlings can grow stronger, which is beneficial to the growth of stems and leaves and the differentiation of flower buds.

2. Temperature: It likes warmth and is cold-resistant, so you don’t have to worry too much about the temperature. It can grow normally as long as it is not lower than minus 10 degrees, but the higher the temperature, the faster it grows.

3. Watering: You don’t need to water it too much as it is relatively drought-resistant. However, the amount and frequency of watering should be increased after the buds appear, and the amount of water should be controlled appropriately when the flowers mature. Waterlogging in the soil is strictly prohibited, otherwise it will affect the growth.

4. Fertilization: Sunflowers like nitrogen fertilizer, so apply it frequently during maintenance. It can be combined with watering at the same time to dilute the fertilizer better and be absorbed by it. Appropriate fertilization can better promote stem growth, but attention should be paid to timely control of fertilizer after budding.
